The House Judiciary Committee will meet this Wednesday
3/25/09.
Among the bills that the committee will take testimony on will
include House Bill 5426, sponsored by Representatives Driver and
Fierro. Bill 5426 proposes modifying Rhode Island's ballot
access laws by removing the start date when a new party can begin
collecting signatures to qualify for ballot access. 5426 also
proposes lowering the threshold for signature petitions to 1%, down
from 5% mandated under current law.
The Committee hearings typically take place 'after the rise',
which generally occurs between 4:30 and 5:30pm.
Representatives from the Moderate Party of Rhode Island will
attend this hearing and testify to the
Committee. |
